Turquoise Kitchens....it's the color of the year!

You would have to be living under the biggest rock ever to not know that Pantone named 15-5519 Turquoise as the 2010 Color of the Year
It's only June and I'm about ready to punch the next person who tells me this in the face.  I don't know why, but it seems like EVERYONE is talking about it this year!  I'm a fan of turquoise, always have been, my own kitchen is painted turquoise.....but I am starting to loathe it!
Nonetheless, I am going to jump on the train and show some pictures of THE COLOR OF THE YEAR in kitchens.  Sell out is my new middle name.

I'll show my favorite kitchen first.  This is designed by Phoebe Howard and I have to say it totally rocks.  I first saw it on The House of Turquoise blog a few days ago.  You know I always love me some white marble countertops, but I also love that the turquoise tile splash is rich and fresh all at the same time, without being overwhelming.
Turquoise appliances and kitchen accessories are (of course) pretty hot right now too. I'm not going to lie, I totally swoon over the Martha Stewart Collection at Macy's every time I'm there.
Above picture from Art, Heart and Home.

This next kitchen is from Apartment Therapy.
I also really love this next kitchen from Kalibre Kitchens, the white quartz countertops just look to clean and crisp next to that turquoise wall.

Another white marble kitchen from Porter House Designs.  I also really like that chandelier and I am generally not a fan of chandeliers.
I think this last kitchen is really interesting.  I found it on Flickr and the title is 1963 Geneva Steel Kitchen.  The caption says it was rescued from a cooking school run by nun's and they retro renovated it into their  Massachusetts kitchen.  Funny how things come around again isn't it?

So tell me, how do you all feel about The Color of the Year? Still loving it, or totally sick of it already?

I totally know what you are saying! I love turquoise too, but I am so sick of people calling it the color of the year! Great kitchens though, all of them are so beautiful.

found your blog - and I'm loving it! :) 1986, turquoise was Jill's wedding color... and evidently it wasn't so hot at that time. She's just glad her pictures are finally in style.

I Love turquoise. Always have, always will. I LOVE the 1960's version...In fact I think the color is my destiny. I found an old Sunbeam turquoise mixer that was my grandma's. I certainly will celebrate 2010 with the color, in accessories...but not on permanent surfaces.
blessings,

Jen-
I'm glad you found me. :)
I think it's awesome that Jill used turquoise as her wedding color! It's funny that 20+ years later it's in style.

Tonya-
I'm super jealous about your turquoise mixer. I wish my grandma would have had something that cool! I lied, I got some pretty awesome mid century modern furniture from her, so I can't complain. :)
