When something like red wine is spilled on the countertop, there is a pretty good chance it will stain. The longer the spill sits there....the higher the odds of staining.
So, how do you get the stain out?
If that doesn't work try this...
- Wipe the stain with distilled water (the minerals in tap water may leave a residue).
- Next soak some paper towels in hydrogen peroxide and then fold them up and cover the stain.
- Cover with plastic wrap to make a little "tent" and then tape the edges. We are trying to "sweat" out the stain.
- After about 24 hours remove the plastic but keep the paper towels in place and let them dry out for the day.
- Rinse and dry.
Keep in mind, you are getting the stain out. The acids in the wine probably already etched the surface.
This remedy will work on any type of natural stone, not just marble.
