I know I've said this many times, but we really do have the best customers!
We recently finished the countertops in a beautiful home out in the country. When I went to take the photos I wasn't excited just to see the kitchen, I was excited to see the homeowners. They are great people and it's customer's like them that make us love what we do....even on the bad days. :)
This was an interesting kitchen to choose granite for because there was so much of the Oak wood in their home. They didn't want the kitchen to be too yellow, but they wanted the granite to work well with the wood.
We had some really pretty
Spectrus granite in our yard that worked perfectly for their home. It's dark, so it provides a nice contrast, but it has some really nice light colors in it as well that pull together the wood.
Luckily they have a lot of light, so they could easily use these dark colored stones without it causing the kitchen to be too dark.
The homeowners wanted to use a different color of granite on the island and this is where the job got really fun. We had a half slab in our yard of
Cosmic Black granite that could not have been more perfect for their kitchen. It works so well with the Spectrus on the perimeter countertops.
The edge detail on the island is a
1 1/2" Classic Bullnose. This detail sets the island apart from the perimeter countertops, which have a
1 1/2" Mitered edge detail.
Notice the quartz in the edge of the island in the photo below... This is the stuff I die over in stone!
The sinks are
Blanco Silgranit in Anthracite. If you have the budget I recommend a Blanco Silgranit sink over any other. I'd trade the stainless sink in my kitchen for one in a heartbeat!
They are so durable and look great for years to come.
The backsplash is a tumbled
Travertine tile with Slate inserts and a Slate mosaic over the cooktop. They have a large fireplace adjacent to the kitchen that is floor to ceiling multi-colored Slate. The backsplash really ties the two rooms together.
There is a pony wall right next to the kitchen that previously had been topped with wood. The homeowner had a great idea to use the Cosmic Black granite left over from the island slab to cap that wall. We put a large
3 1/2" Mitered edge on it to cover the old wood. Doesn't it look great? I love these added details.

A benefit to him is he gets a new surface and gets help spending money on it. The obvious advantage for you is that it'll cost you less to repair the damage you brought on. All is not missing though. You get to reside in a place having a new kitchen countertops.
